Paul Gonzi delivered a presentation at the Employment Law Seminar: An Insight into Trending Topics, organised by FHRD on 23 January. His session, titled “The Role of the Employee Representative: Past, Present, and Future”, explored the evolving function of employee representation, a topic deserving more attention from employers and HR practitioners, particularly those with a workforce exceeding 50+ in complement.

The anticipated transposition of the EU Pay Transparency Directive, coupled with the recently enacted rules on a national minimum collective bargaining coverage rate, is expected to pave the way for increased employee representation in the workplace, elevating its role beyond consultation to the co-design of employer pay frameworks. Paul highlighted how employee representation is not just a legal consideration, but one of strategic importance, affecting workplace culture.
