Maltese law imposes a list of minimum information which employers must notify employees with at the start of their employment. However, there are other topics which an employer might want to regulate prior to the commencement of a new employment relationship.
These include the following
- Pre-employment warranties
- Other work and non-compete
- Confidentiality and trade secrets
- Health and safety
- Intellectual property
- Data protection
- Compensation, Bonuses & Benefits/allowances
- Post-termination restrictions
- Discipline & Grievances
- Fines/Damages
- Governing Law & Jurisdiction in case of Disputes
There is no one-size-fits all type of contract. The content, tone and length of an agreement should be designed on a case-by-case basis depending on the overall look and feel which the employer wants to portray, whilst maintaining consistency within the employer entity.
